What this guide covers
A BMW engine listing on this site is a complete unit as photographed, supplied for a replacement or a straightforward refit. It is not sold as a stripped short block unless the listing says so.
The code on the engine plate matters more than the model name. An E90 330d and an F30 330d can share a badge and not share a sump, a flywheel, or a cooler.
Fitment
Confirm the engine code in the VIN, the gearbox, and the emissions equipment. Automatic and manual cars often need a different flywheel or torque converter.
Export cars and European cars can differ in ancillaries even when the long block looks the same in a photograph.
What the workshop checks
Read the photographs for sensors, brackets, the turbo or the intake, and the gearbox flange. Missing pieces are not added after payment.
The workshop does not offer a unit whose inspection sits outside the band it accepts.
How to choose a listing
Start from the engine code, then the year, then the price. A cheaper unit with the wrong sump is not a saving once it is in the workshop.
Warranty
Eligible engines carry a warranty of up to 12 months after a correct installation by a workshop. The warranty covers eligible internal failure. It does not cover a mismatched fitment, a dry start, the wrong oil, or damage caused after the crate is opened.
Shipping
Door-to-door shipping from Hamburg is a flat 299,00 €. The engine is packed for freight and delivered to the address on the order. A forklift or an engine crane is required at delivery. The shipment is arranged to the destination the buyer provides.
