Refurbished BMW engines: what the word means on this site

Refurbished, reconditioned, and inspected used stock are not the same thing. This guide says which one is listed.

On this site, refurbished means an engine that has been through the workshop inspection and is sold as photographed. It does not mean every internal part has been replaced.

A full rebuild is a different job. If a listing does not say that bearings, rings, or the head were renewed, those parts were not renewed.

A refurbished unit still has to match the car. Inspection does not change the sump, the flywheel, or the engine code.

Ask for the VIN check while the engine is still in Hamburg if the chassis code is uncertain.

What the workshop checks

The workshop writes the inspection against the listing. Fluid residue, a cracked pulley, or a damaged connector stays in the description.

Units that fail the inspection are not offered as ready stock.

How to choose a listing

If you need a rebuilt short block with a written parts list, say so before you order. The photographed complete unit is what the shop dispatches.

Warranty

Eligible engines carry a warranty of up to 12 months after a correct installation by a workshop. The warranty covers eligible internal failure. It does not cover a mismatched fitment, a dry start, the wrong oil, or damage caused after the crate is opened.

Shipping

Door-to-door shipping from Hamburg is a flat 299,00 €. The engine is packed for freight and delivered to the address on the order. A forklift or an engine crane is required at delivery. The shipment is arranged to the destination the buyer provides.
